Route One Awards 2011 Programme (Edit)

On the evening of 5th October we attended the RouteONE Operator Excellence Awards Dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. We were one of seven finalists in the Medium Coach Operator of the Year (11 to 30 vehicles)
The event was Co-hosted by RouteONE editor Mike Morgan and BBC presenter Garry Richardson with Olympic Decathlete Dean Macey and Comedian Marcus Brigstoke, who described the event as the 'Bus & Coach equivalent of the Oscars' providing the entertainment. The dinner was attended by 650 guests from across the Bus and Coach industry.
Although we didn't win our catagory we are still extremely proud to be considered one of the top 7 operators of our size in the UK. This is what the judges said about the finalists

"There is real quality among these seven superb finalists, confirming yet again that the coach industry really is capable of delivering excellence. Without exception, any one of the seven would make a very worthy winner"

What more is there to say except many congratulations to the winners 'Pulham & Sons' from Bourton-on-the-Water. Click above for an edited version of the evenings programme.

On Saturday 10th September we held a 20th anniversary party at the Maitlandfield House Hotel in Haddington which was attended by around 120 customers, suppliers, employees, frinds and family. It was fantastic to be able to celebrate with so many friends, we would not be in the position we are today had it not been for the support and loyalty of our customers and the local community.
Shown above is the fantastic cake we had specially made replicating our latest 51 seat coach. It was cut on the night by 3 generations of our family team.

We have just had a new Inspection Pit installed by Everquip Garage Equipment to further improve both our workshop facilities and to improve our ability to maintain our vehicles to the very highest standards

The inspection pit came in two steel sections which were installed on concrete foundation pads so that it could be installed level with the existing floor. Once in place the entrance tunnel was welded to the main pit and once the pre-installed electrics and air systems were connected up the pit was then surrounded by concrete. This was done in 4 pours. In total there was 35 cubic metres of concrete poured around the pit to ensure maximum strength of the new pit and exisiting floor. Once fully cured the whole floor will be painted to ensure that it can be kept clean easily

Our latest "green" initiative is the installation of a Rainwater Harvesting system

The system collects rainwater from the roof of our workshops and after passing through a filter is then stored in a 3600 litre tank, this water is then used to wash our coaches thereby saving a significant amount of energy compared to the equivalent amount of tapwater
